Will swapping your tub or shower need a permit first?
Straight answers on permits and shower-to-tub conversion for homes in Ocala, FL.
You want the shower gone and a tub back, or the other way around, but you have heard stories. A job done without the right paperwork can come up again when you sell. If your home is in Ocala, in Marion County, you would rather know where you stand before a single wall panel comes down.
A permit is the go-ahead a city or county gives before certain home work starts. Whether a bathroom swap needs one depends on where you live and what the job includes. That is why a friend's answer from another town may not match yours. The worry is fair, too. Nobody wants a surprise at closing.
The size of the job shapes the question. A shower-to-tub conversion of this kind covers only the wet area. The old shower comes out, a tub goes in, and the wall surround is updated in the style you pick. Floors, vanities and the rest of the room are not part of it. A smaller, contained job is easier to talk through, and settling the permit question early keeps the schedule calm.
Before you sign anything, put the permit question on your list. Bring it up at a free design visit with Love Your Bath, and ask plainly whether your job needs a permit and who takes care of it. Get the answer before work starts, not after. All homeowners are asked to be at the visit, so every owner hears the same answer at the same time. The designer listens and builds a custom plan with options and a free quote. Skip any plan where nobody can tell you how the permit question was settled.
With that question settled, you can enjoy the new tub without a nagging doubt. When the day comes to sell your Ocala home, you know how the work was handled. Kittye R. summed up a bathtub swap this way: "The workmen are top quality and we have actually enjoyed having them here."

"Jared from Love Your Bath contacted me about getting a new shower for my father. My father is a 100 percent disabled veteran who is on 100 percent oxygen. I explained to him that we needed the tub converted to a walk in shower in order for my father to be able to bathe at home. I explained our financial situation and without hesitation he got on the phone with his company and now we are on our way to my dad having what he needs to remain at home. Thank you SO VERY MUCH Jared for your help and thank you Love Your Bath. You truly are a blessing. I give you 100 on a scale from 1to 10 with 10 being exceptional!!!"

Other things people in Ocala ask
is it a good idea to convert a tub to a shower
Think about who uses the bathroom today and in the next few years. A walk-in shower is easier and safer to step into. A tub matters more to families with small children. If the home has another tub, converting one is rarely a problem. Our designer will talk it through with you before you decide.
shower to tub conversion cost
The cost depends on the space, the tub you choose and the wall surround style. We replace only what is needed, so it is far less than a full remodel. A designer measures at home and gives you a free, written quote.
