Want a way past the tub wall that is not a walk-in tub?
Walk-in showers and other choices for older adults and their families in Punta Gorda, FL, in plain words.
You or a parent in Punta Gorda find the tub wall harder to get over than it used to be. Everyone keeps saying walk-in tub. You are not against it, but you want to see the other choices first, so the decision fits the person who will use it every day.
The climb over the side is what makes a tub hard, so the fix is anything that removes it. A walk-in tub does that with a door you open and a seat inside. A walk-in shower gets rid of it with a low or barrier-free entry. A tub-to-shower conversion takes the tub out and puts that kind of shower in. A built-in seat and grab bars can go with the shower choices. c R. wrote about an install "on my tub to walk in shower."
Every option is quoted at home. With a shower, the price depends on the size and layout of the space, the base, the wall style and finish, the fixture finish, and add-ons like a seat, shelves or grab bars. With a walk-in tub, it depends on the tub size and which accessibility and wellness features you pick. Have each option priced so you can lay them next to each other.
Start with a short talk about what is hard now. Is it getting in, standing for a long time, or turning around? Write the answers down so nothing gets missed at the visit. Then reach out to Love Your Bath for a home visit. A designer can show the shower, the conversion and the walk-in tub side by side, and quote the one that fits. All homeowners are asked to be at the visit.
When the work is done, the tub wall is no longer in the way. The install takes in as little as one day, and now and then a second day. One 2025 Punta Gorda shower replacement has Matte Alabaster walls in a carved stone pattern and Brushed Nickel fixtures. The person who uses it simply walks in.
