Is it smart to take out your tub and put in a shower?
Weighing a tub-to-shower conversion for your Vero Beach, FL home, and whether you or a buyer would miss the tub.
The tub in your Vero Beach home sees more showers than baths, and the wall is getting harder to step over. Yet a little voice asks whether you will regret it, or whether a future buyer will. Here is a way to think it through before deciding.
This is really a question about who the bathroom is for. A tub-to-shower conversion trades the tub for a low-threshold Jacuzzi® shower, so you step in instead of climbing in. The median age in Vero Beach is 55.6 years. Your choice, though, rests on the people in your own house.
Picture this bathroom today and a few years from now. A tub matters more to families with small children. If another tub stays in the house, converting this one is rarely a problem. The job stays in the wet area, and the install can be done in as little as one day. What it costs depends on the space and on what you choose, from the base and walls to a seat or grab bars.
This week, jot down how each bathroom gets used and by whom. Notice if anyone sits on the tub edge to swing their legs over. Then schedule a free design visit with Love Your Bath and share that list. There, a designer listens to what you are after and builds a custom plan with options and a free quote. Make the call with that plan in front of you, not on a worry.
Whatever you choose, you will have chosen it on purpose. In Vero Beach, a 2024 shower replacement has Alabaster walls in a herringbone pattern, Matte Black fixtures and an open entry with no door. Michele D. wrote, "My new shower looks amazing. We love it."
