Disadvantages of a walk-in tub? The honest answer
A plain look at the downsides of walk-in tubs, for Clermont, FL homeowners who are not sure yet.
You like the idea of a low step instead of a climb over the tub wall. But you have read that you sit inside while the tub fills and again while it drains, and that gives you pause. If you live in Clermont and want a straight answer before you call anyone, this page is for you.
Yes, the wait is real. With a walk-in tub, you step in and sit down first. The door seals the water in, so you stay seated until the tub drains. That is the downside people mention most. It can feel slow if you like a quick rinse. A walk-in tub is also a tub, so it takes the space of a tub. That is worth knowing early.
What the job involves depends on a few things. The size of the tub and the features you pick both matter. Some people add water jets or heated air. Others choose a quick drain option to shorten the sitting time at the end. Your space and your choices shape the plan. The price comes from the in-home quote, so no one can give you a fair number before they see your bathroom.
Start with two questions this week. How do you bathe today, and how often? If you mostly shower, a walk-in shower may fit you better than a tub. If you love a long soak, a walk-in tub may be worth the wait. When you compare models, ask how fast each one fills and drains. A designer from Love Your Bath, a Jacuzzi® Bath Remodel dealer, comes to your home and tells you honestly which one fits how you use your bathroom.
Once you choose the right one, bathing gets calmer. You step in instead of climbing over a wall. You sit on a built-in seat and hold a grab bar. If you chose a tub, you still get your long, warm bath. Sarah F. wrote in a Google review: "Exceptional professionals that went the extra mile to ensure I was truly happy with my new walkin tub."
