Disadvantages of a walk-in tub? The honest answer.
Straight answers for Port St. Lucie, FL homeowners wondering if a walk-in tub is the right fit.
You like the idea of a low step in and a seat, but you have read the fine print. In Port St. Lucie, you may be asking the same thing as everyone else: do I really sit and wait while it fills, then wait again while it drains? That is a fair worry. It is worth sorting out before you decide anything.
The biggest downside is the wait. A walk-in tub has a door, so you sit down inside first, close it, and let the water rise around you. When you are done, you stay seated until the water drains, then you step out. With a tub you climb over, you can fill it before you get in. That is the trade. You give up that routine for a low entry and a built-in seat.
Not every tub waits the same. Fill and drain speed can differ from model to model, and a quick drain is one option you can choose. Heated air and water jets are others. The price depends on the tub size and the accessibility and wellness features you pick, so each one is quoted in your home. Features that cut the wait or add comfort are worth asking about before you choose.
This week, think about how you bathe today. If you like a long soak a few times a week, the wait may not bother you at all. If you mostly shower, a walk-in shower may suit you better. A shower replaced in Port St. Lucie in 2024 has a fold-down seat, so a seat does not have to mean a tub. Love Your Bath sends a designer to your home who will tell you honestly which one fits. Sarah F. wrote in a Google review, "Exceptional professionals that went the extra mile to ensure I was truly happy with my new walkin tub."
Once you know how you bathe, the choice gets simple. You either have a walk-in tub with a low entry, an integrated seat and grab bars, and you chose the wait with your eyes open. Or you have a shower you step into with ease. Either way, our own crew handles the install, so one company answers to you.
