Shower-to-Tub Conversion in Fort Myers: Getting Your Bath Back

If your Fort Myers home has a shower where you would rather have a tub, you are not stuck with it. Some people want a place to bathe small children. Others miss a long soak at the end of the day, or want a tub in the house before they put it on the market.

The job itself is simple to picture. The shower comes out, a Jacuzzi® bathtub goes into the same space, and new walls go up around it in the style you choose. The work stays in the wet area, so it does not include floors or vanities. Fort Myers takes in the beautiful old homes of the Historic McGregor corridor, Downtown Fort Myers and North Fort Myers. Whichever part of town you call home, every tub is quoted in the home, because no two bathrooms are the same. You choose an alcove tub or a deep-soaking tub. Then you pick the wall color, the pattern and the fixture finish. Options like a slip-resistant surface, grab bars or built-in seating can be added.

The thing that changes the answer most is your own room, not the town. So take a look before anyone visits. How big is the shower space you have now? Is it the only place in the house to wash, or is there another shower down the hall? Who will step into the new tub, and would a grab bar or a slip-resistant surface help them? Worries like permits, and whether the change is a good idea at all, have their own answers below.

Cost has its own page as well, so here is only the outline. The price depends on the size and layout of your space, the tub you pick, the wall style and finish, the fixture finish, and extras such as a seat or shelves. The free quote includes the product and the installation. Because only the shower area is replaced, the job is much smaller than a full remodel.

First, you call and set a time for a designer to come to the house. All homeowners are asked to be there. Next, the designer listens and builds a custom plan with options and a free quote, and you choose the tub, the colors and any safety features. Then a crew from Love Your Bath, mainly their own installers, does the work. Chad F. wrote that the designer "was not merely selling a product but listening as to how to best serve our particular need."

When the crew is done, a tub sits where the shower used to be, framed by walls you picked out. Bath time for small children is back on the schedule. A warm soak is there whenever you want one. And if you sell someday, the house has a tub to show.
