Tub-to-Shower Conversion in Lakeland: Step In, Not Over
What a tub-to-shower conversion looks like for a home in Lakeland, FL, and how it goes from start to finish.
The tub wall seems to get a little taller every year, or at least it feels that way. If you live in Lakeland and the daily climb into the tub has started to feel like a risk, a low-threshold shower in the same spot is the change most worth a look.
In Lakeland, the job is a simple swap in the same spot. The tub comes out, and a Jacuzzi® shower with a low entry goes where it stood. You pick the wall type and color, the base, and the fixture finish, and you can add a seat, shelves or grab bars. The wall systems are grout-free, with antimicrobial surfaces that help reduce mold and mildew buildup. We have replaced two showers and one bathtub in Lakeland. One of those showers, from 2024, has Sandstorm walls in a random stone pattern and Oil Rubbed Bronze fixtures.
Lakeland has a long story. Southgate Shopping Center opened in 1957 and later showed up in the film Edward Scissorhands. Florida Southern College holds the largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, and Bonnet Springs Park opened by downtown in 2022. Those facts tell you about the city, not about your bathroom. For the shower itself, look at your own setup: who uses this tub, whether a seat would help, and where you would want something to hold.
Every shower is quoted in your home, because no two bathrooms are the same. The price follows the size and layout of the space and the finishes and extras you pick, and the free quote includes both the product and the installation. Only the wet area is part of the job, so floors and vanities stay as they are. The cost question and the permit question each have their own page below.
First, you call Love Your Bath and pick a time for a free design visit. All homeowners are asked to be present. The designer listens to what you want and builds a custom plan with options and a free quote. Pam S. wrote, "Sales rep Greg did a great job covering the details and presenting all options on our tub to shower conversion." Once you are set, an install crew made up primarily of the company's own W-2 employees removes the tub and puts in your shower.
After that, the bathroom you already know works better for you. You step into the shower instead of over a tub, and the walls and fixtures are the ones you picked. Nothing else in the room had to change to get there.
