Tub or walk-in shower: which one will you be glad you chose?
Thinking through a shower-to-tub conversion for a New Smyrna Beach, FL home, with resale in mind.
Maybe you are thinking about the day you sell, and whether buyers will want a tub. Or maybe someone in your New Smyrna Beach home wants a bath again. Either way, you are stuck between a tub and a shower and do not want to pick wrong.
Going back and forth on this is normal, because both are good choices for different people. A tub is best for bathing small children and for a long soak. A walk-in shower gives easier step-in access. If yours is the only tub in the house, think hard before giving it up. If another tub exists, the stakes drop.
Either way, the change stays inside the wet area. The old unit comes out, the new Jacuzzi® tub or shower goes in, and new walls go up around it in the color and pattern you pick. What makes it a bigger job is a larger space and more extras, like built-in seating, grab bars or a slip-resistant surface on a tub. Your vanity and floor stay as they are.
Try this before you call anyone. Picture the bathroom on a normal weekday, then on a holiday with family in town. Which gets in the way more, a tub wall or no tub at all? Check whether there is a second tub in the house. Then ask Love Your Bath for a design visit in New Smyrna Beach.
