Walk-In Tubs in St. Petersburg: What to Expect

Stepping over a tub wall gets harder for plenty of people, and in St. Petersburg that can be what starts the walk-in tub search. St. Petersburg is in Pinellas County and has more than 100 neighborhoods, from historic Old Northeast to downtown. A walk-in tub lets you keep the long, warm bath, with a low entry, a built-in seat and grab bars.

A walk-in tub swaps the tub wall you climb over for a low entry you walk through. You open a door that seals against water, sit on the built-in seat, and the tub fills around you. Grab bars are within reach, and the floor has an anti-slip surface. Jets, heated air and a quick drain are options if you want them. Whether you live in Kenwood, best known for its historic bungalows, in Old Northeast, or near the EDGE District, the work stays in the wet area. That means the tub. Floors, vanities and the rest of the room are not part of it.

St. Petersburg has more than 100 neighborhoods. Old Northeast is a historic neighborhood next to downtown, and the EDGE District sits on the western edge of downtown. A neighborhood name cannot tell you what your own bathroom looks like, so check it yourself. Look at where the tub sits and how much room is around it. Think about where a helper would stand. Ask whether you could reach the grab bars from the seat.

The price depends on your space and your choices. The size and layout of the tub area matter, and so do the tub size and the accessibility and wellness features you pick, such as jets or heated air. Every tub is quoted in your home, because no two bathrooms are the same. The quote includes the product and the installation. What a walk-in tub really costs has its own page below.

It starts when a Love Your Bath designer comes to your home, a Jacuzzi® Bath Remodel dealer that listens first. You talk through what worries you, choose the tub size, colors, finishes and safety features, and get a custom plan with a quote. Then the company's own installers do the work. When they finish, the crew goes over every detail with you. If a question is on your mind, the cards below cover the downsides, Medicare and cost.

Once it is done, bath time is just part of your day again. You walk in, sit down and soak without worrying about the climb. Sarah F. wrote, "Exceptional professionals that went the extra mile to ensure I was truly happy with my new walkin tub."
